La popular serie televisiva Where Are We Going, Dad? 爸爸去哪儿 ha realizado una película con el mismo nombre y ha batido récords de taquilla en su primer día de estreno.
Se estrenó en cines en enero de 2014 aprovechando el Año Nuevo Chino con gran éxito de taquilla ya que este es uno de los periodos mas rentables para los cineastas chinos, el llamado «cine de año nuevo» 贺岁片 (Hèsuì piān).
Where Are We Going, Dad? 爸爸去哪儿 (Bàba qù nǎ’er), ha sido la película China, no 3D, que ha conseguido en un día la mayor recaudación de taquilla, 88,2 millones de RMB el día de su estreno, (10.742.888 €) con una ganancia global de mas de 600 millones de RMB (73 milllones de euros).
Se estima que 2,6 millones de personas vieron la película ese día.
Fué rodada en cinco días, con un presupuesto de algo menos de un millón de dólares y estuvo lista en menos de ocho semanas para ser estrenada en cine.
El programa trata sobre un grupo de celebridades/padres famosos que se van de vacaciones con sus hijos pequeños, donde tienen que resolver acertijos o hacer actividades juntos.
